Teletherapy

A lot of things can get in the way of going to therapy. I get it…

Sometimes trying to find the time to schedule another appointment… considering the commute, the traffic, and other family members’ schedules… it’s enough to make you throw up your hands and say, “Forget it!”

Sitting in an office and potentially seeing people in the waiting room on your way in or out of an appointment can be awkward. “Wonder what they’re here for… I bet they’re thinking that about me. What if I see someone I know? I’m cold… I wonder if I can take my shoes off and sit cross-legged?”

“I don’t have time for this. It’s not THAT bad anyway… I mean, I slept a whole six hours last night and didn’t cry myself to sleep. I’m fine.”

Teletherapy breaks down those barriers.

With teletherapy, we’ll meet online – just as though we were meeting in-person in an office (except we’ll connect remotely through our screens). The platform I use meets worldwide security requirements, allowing you to feel safe throughout the process.

You get to stay in the comfort of your own home and your sweatpants. You can easily log on and off your phone or computer without losing any time in the process. Plus, we can see each other without wearing protective face coverings or worrying about social distancing.

You also don’t need to limit your choices for therapists because their location is convenient for you.

If the last thing you want to squeeze into your day is traveling across town to a therapist’s office, teletherapy is for you. Meet with me during your lunch break, while children are napping, or from the privacy of a parked car. Snag a warm beverage, make yourself comfortable, and log on. Pets are welcomed and encouraged.

Effectiveness

Maybe part of you loves the idea of doing therapy from the comfort of your own home, and another part wonders, is it as effective as in-person therapy?

Yes, according to research and my personal experience, teletherapy is just as effective as face-to-face therapy.

Teletherapy allows for quicker access to care. The convenience of scheduling supports more consistent attendance, thus enhancing therapeutic outcomes.

In an era where facial coverings are required for in-person sessions, teletherapy allows you to see the therapist’s full face and hear their voice with no muffling.

More and more services are being offered online. Teletherapy technology has grown exponentially in recent years, making it faster and more convenient than ever before. Therapy has always involved back-and-forth dialogue. With teletherapy, the nature of the conversation is the same. The only difference is that it is being conducted through a screen.

Requirements

There are minimal requirements for teletherapy sessions.

I will send you a link via email. You can access it via your Smartphone, computer, laptop, or tablet. As long as you have strong Wi-Fi (meaning near your house in the garage or backyard and not out in a park), you will be able to access the session.

If you do not have video capacity on your devices, connecting through a phone conversation is also an option.

Don’t miss out on the benefits teletherapy has to offer.
