Anxiety

It’s paralyzing and puts us on the sidelines of life.

It keeps us from sleeping, engaging with people we care about, and living how we want to live.

You’re probably familiar with the overthinking, the racing heart, and the ruminating all night.

Whether it flares up with your family, at work, or with certain friends, anxiety can be one of the most debilitating experiences in life.

That constant worry about yourself and others…

The fear of doing the wrong thing…

That nervousness that makes it hard to function…

You have goals and desires for your life, but it’s hard to pursue them when every decision comes with a laundry list of considerations, tasks, and stressors.

What’s the right choice?

What if I choose one thing and it causes more problems than the other?

How will I know?

Maybe you’re stuck inside more often than not… with kids that require constant activity. The house is a wreck, dinner needs to be prepped and cooked… oh, and someone should probably walk the dog. But you’re exhausted!

Am I a good enough parent/friend/partner?

Why do other people have it so much more together?

The thoughts race with all the things you SHOULD do, and, before you know it, you’re paralyzed with anxiety.

It doesn’t have to be this way…

Utilizing proven strategies, we will alleviate the discomfort that comes with anxiety and take back your power.

Imagine what it would feel like to wake up without immediately feeling overwhelmed by the day and judged by other people.

Instead, you wake up confident in yourself and your choices… without the dread of constantly having to manage your anxiety.

Are you ready for that clear, peaceful mind?

Therapy will help you get there!

In therapy, you will have a space to talk about all your anxiety. There’s no judgment about the things that make you anxious.

We’ll explore all aspects of your anxiety…

Where it comes from (if you know… sometimes, it’s just there),

How and when it tends to show up for you (sometimes it’s predictable, sometimes it’s not),

What/who triggers it (again, sometimes, it’s just there, which is anxiety-producing),

And how it is currently affecting your life.

We will take inventory of early life experiences and family dynamics to see how that might be contributing to your anxiety.

We will identify realistic coping strategies you can use in anxious moments to bring you some relief. Yes, regular 90-minute yoga sessions and tons of meditating will help with anxiety, but that is not realistic for most people (and can fuel more anxiety about not doing enough as a result).

We will also take breaks because I know talking about anxiety can breed more anxiety.

Utilizing evidence-based strategies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Internal Family Systems, we will break the cycle of anxious thinking patterns. Most importantly, you’ll be able to recognize when anxiety is taking over and stop it before you feel out of control.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is an intervention that focuses on identifying, challenging, and changing unhelpful thought processes and behaviors. This involves disrupting the cyclical nature of thought processes, which, as a result, improves your emotional regulation.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

DBT teaches you the skills needed to live in the present moment and manage painful emotions. This includes developing healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate emotions, and enhance relationships with others. The four key areas of DBT are mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

IFS is an integrative model that helps individuals heal by understanding different parts of their inner being. As with members in a family system, inner parts are forced into roles that can disconnect us from our core self. By gaining access to your core self and understanding the other parts, you’ll enjoy inner healing and outer connection with others.

Anxiety can be painfully obvious or sneaky and subtle. You can get the best of it.

There may be something specific that fuels your anxiety: a phobia, a family member, or a certain situation. For others, anxiety is subtle but constant thinking about the next step, masquerading as productivity and heavily impacting your health and well-being.

Whether you know you have anxiety or just feel like the daily hustle is taking its toll, let’s talk it through.
